Finding it's origins in Rupelmonde, Mercator brassband is an ambitious brassband
composed of passionate amateur musicians, conservatory students and
professional musicians. Since 2018, the band located to Boom, ushering in a new
period. Many young musicians joined and the band was able to attract national and
international brass talent. Working under the great musical triumvirate of Johan De
Win, Tim De Maeseneer and Lode Violet, Mercator has been able to grow. It's
ambition is reflected in their journey: in 2018 the band won in 3rd division on the
Belgian nationals, in 2022 the band made their entry in the 1st division, winning the
Dutch Open Championships and placing 3rd on the Belgian nationals. Since then,
the band became a constant in many local brassband championships in 1st
division. In short, Mercator is fun and talented band who loves the brassband format
and strives to grow in it's genre.
