Bio

XBY (ex-Bromley Youth) Concert Band has been under the watchful eye of Dennis
Mycroft since its formation in 1989. Members are predominantly alumni of the
Bromley Youth Concert Band who now pursue careers outside of music. XBY gives
musicians the opportunity to perform a wide variety of music whilst bringing
audiences a high standard of programmes to enjoy. The band performs and
competes, both nationally and internationally, and has recorded music by leading
composers such as Philip Sparke. In 2022 XBY achieved a Gold award in the
highest class of the World Music Contest in Holland, to add to their previous tally of
Gold and Platinum awards in national and international competitions. For World
Music Contest 2026 we will be conducted by our Assistant Conductor John
Hargreaves.
