Our wind band, the "Union Musicale des Cheminots d’Arras", was founded in 1923.
Today, we are about fifty amateur musicians who meet every Wednesday under the
direction of Jean-Pierre Lorieux. The diversity of ages, professional activities, and
academic backgrounds of its members contributes to a richness based on respect
and friendship. Passionate and voluntary, they transmit their passion for music to the
public and to those who join the orchestra. This collective work, demanding but
exciting, has allowed the orchestra to overcome important steps, both musically and
in terms of human cohesion. One of the highlights of our recent journey is
undoubtedly obtaining, in June 2024, a first prize with honors in a national
competition - a recognition of the in-depth work carried out year after year. To mark
the orchestra's 100th anniversary, we decided to commission an original work from
composer Thierry Deleruyelle. This project illustrates our commitment to bringing
musical creation to life and anchoring our work in the present and the future. If you
