Bio
The Band of the Societat Musical Barri de Malilla was established in 1989,
concurrently with the founding of the musical society itself, as a result of the initiative
of a group of local residents who aspired to create a music society for the Malilla
neighbourhood. It was founded under the direction of maestro Daniel Belloví
Navarro, and offered its inaugural concert in 1993 with a small ensemble of
musicians who would later form the basis of the current band. In 2019, maestro
Borja Martínez Alegre was appointed as the conductor of the Band. Throughout its
history, the Band of the Societat Musical Barri de Malilla has participated on
numerous occasions in the Valencia Provincial Band Contest (2001, 2002, 2005,
2007, and 2017), the 'Castell de Benisanó' Band Contest (2008), and has performed
in various regions of Spain as well as in Germany (2006). In February 2025, the
Band was awarded first prize at the inaugural "Entrada de Bandas Ciudad de
València" Contest.
