Miliz- und Trachtenkapelle Oberharmersbach
Wind band 2nd division
Bio
The Miliz- und Trachtenkapelle Oberharmersbach, first mentioned in 1852, proudly
represents more than 170 years of musical heritage from the heart of the Middle
Black Forest. Based in the spa town of Oberharmersbach, the band counts around
80 active musicians. We regularly participate in local festivities, spa concerts, and
major ceremonial events, often showcasing our traditional Oberharmersbacher
Schwarzwälder costume during parades and cultural celebrations. While we honor
our roots with traditional performances, our passion for symphonic wind band music
continually drives us toward excellence in both performance and artistry. The
collaboration with various professional conductors such as Dr. Mallory Thompson in
2023 illustrates our urge to constantly develop our skills. Our history is enriched by
appearances at esteemed international competitions, including multiple
participations in the World Music Contest in Kerkrade as well as events in Riva del
Garda, Italy. We have proudly competed at Kerkrade in 1981, 1993, 2001, 2005,
2009, and 2017, and we maintain a strong, friendly partnership with the Symphonic
Orchestra “Harmonie St. Aemiliaan” in Bleijerheide - Kerkrade. Looking ahead, we
submit our application with gratitude, hoping to showcase our abilities once again,
honor our longstanding WMC tradition, and preserve our cherished ties with our
friends in Bleijerheide.
