Bio
KMV De Leiezonen was founded in August 1894 and has long been an integral part
of the cultural landscape of Waregem. In 1964, the ensemble evolved from a
traditional wind band into a distinguished fanfare orchestra, recognized for its
musical quality and artistic refinement. Since its debut at the World Music Contest in
2009, KMV has achieved remarkable success: first place in the third division, victory
in the second division in 2013, and second place in 2017. In 2022, the orchestra
proudly competed in the first division, earning an impressive score of 87.58%. KMV
has also collaborated with NTGent, taking part in the theatre production 'Aida*'
(2010) and later playing a leading role in 'En avant, marche!' (2015), performed in
renowned theatres across Belgium and France. Since 2014, KMV De Leiezonen
has held the title of Cultural Ambassador of the City of Waregem, representing its
community with dedication and excellence. Alongside competitions and
collaborations, the orchestra continues to create original musical theatre
productions each year, combining tradition, creativity, and contemporary expression.
