Koninklijke Harmonie Sainte Cécile Eijsden

Wind Band Concert division

Bio

Koninklijke Harmonie Sainte Cécile Eijsden is one of the Netherlands’ most
distinguished symphonic wind orchestras, founded in 1880 in the southern village of
Eijsden. Under maestro Jan Cober’s inspired leadership for over thirty years, the
orchestra has risen to the forefront of the international symphonic wind scene.
Koninklijke Harmonie Sainte Cécile’s legacy includes World Music Contest victories
in 2009 and 2013, numerous podium finishes, and acclaimed performances across
Europe — from London’s Lord Mayor’s Show to the Certamen in Valencia and the
Mid Europe Festival in Schladming. Their annual Pentcost Concert at Theater aan
het Vrijthof in Maastricht has become a beloved tradition, combining classical
refinement with contemporary innovation. The orchestra’s sound reflects both
precision and emotion — a unique blend that defines Sainte Cécile’s identity.
Through world premieres of works by composers such as Karel Husa, Bert van
Beurden, and Henk Badings, the orchestra continues to expand the boundaries of
wind music. In August 2026, Koninklijke Harmonie Sainte Cécile will proudly return
to the Rodahal in Kerkrade to compete in the Concert Division of the World Music
Contest (WMC) — reaffirming its legacy as a world-class ambassador of Dutch
musical excellence.
