Koninklijke Fanfare Sint-Cecilia Heestert

Fanfare band 3rd division

Bio

The “Koninklijke Fanfare Sint-Cecilia Heestert”, established in 1863, is a vibrant
Belgian town band located in the southern part of West Flanders. Firmly rooted
within and valued by its local community, its currently 45 musicians – aged between
10 and 80 years old – perform at various places in the region both on stage, and as
a marching band joined by its drum corps and twirling team. The group plays in the
‘excellence’ division since 1989, a skill level that has bestowed upon them the
entitlements of ‘Belgian Fedekam Champion’ (1997) and ‘provincial selected
ensemble of West Flanders’ (2007-2011). Under the guidance of their current
conductor Jacob Surdiacourt (since 2016), a further development of the ensemble’s
musical proficiency is aspired, while focusing on a repertoire of classical and
contemporary music specifically composed for ‘fanfare orchestra’.
