Bio
The Hettstedter Spielmannszug “Blau-Weiß” was founded in 1919 and has since
come to represent much more than just musical tradition – it stands for community,
commitment, and the joy of making music. Over the decades, numerous successes
at GDR sports festivals, as well as state and national championships, have shaped
the band’s history and established its reputation as one of the leading ensembles in
the region. After the reunification of Germany in 1990, the club underwent
restructuring and embraced new musical influences. The promotion of young talent
and a shared enthusiasm for music have always been central to its mission. A
significant milestone was the club’s reorientation starting in 2016. With its first
participation in the European Open Championships as part of the Rasteder
Musiktage, a new era began for the ensemble. In 2017, the band competed in the
WAMSB World Championships in Palm Springs (USA), returning as world
champions in marching. In the following years, the corps celebrated further
international successes, including European championship titles in Rastede, as well
as renewed participation in the world championships. Today, the club stands for
musical diversity, international competitiveness, and a strong sense of community
true to its motto: “When music becomes passion.
