Bio
Established in 1972, the Hertfordshire Showband is a volunteer-run music & arts
charity, open to all. With a focus on community, music, and personal development,
the band has created lifelong friendships and world-class performances for
generations. The band provides musical tuition, instruments, rehearsals, uniforms,
and performance opportunities at both local and international levels. Weekly
sessions and annual training weekends ensure high-quality development for
members of all ages (12 to 65+). The band's Junior Division for ages 9–17, is
designed to teach foundational music and marching skills in a fun and supportive
environment. This helps younger players build confidence and progress to the main
Showband. Hertfordshire Showband has over 50 members across brass,
woodwind, and percussion. They perform at concerts, parades, festivals,
competitions, and high-profile events, including London Band Week (2023 & 2024)
and filming for the Netflix series, 'The Perfect Couple'. Their diverse playlist ranges
from pop and show tunes to traditional marches. Following the band's success at
WMC in 2022, becoming double divisional champions and double gold medal
winners in the March and March Parade contests, the band is extremely privileged
and proud to represent the UK at WMC 2026!
