Bio
El Fuerte was founded in 2001 by Jurrie Delporte. He brought together all the local
percussionists from Koksijde to form a band built on four key values: discipline,
friendship, percussion, and fun. From the very beginning, they combined the
concept of a marching and show band with purely percussive music — something
unique in the region at the time! This year, the group celebrates its 25th
anniversary! El Fuerte is a young yet diverse group, with an average member age of
26. The combination of a drumline and lyres remains a rare and striking sight. Their
repertoire ranges from contemporary pop hits all the way back to classics from the
seventies. Since 2001, the group has competed in several national and
international championships — and each time, they have returned home with
excellent results!
