Brassband Pro Rege Heerenveen

Bio

Pro Rege was founded on August 27, 1924, in Heerenveen and has since built a
rich history. What began as a fanfare band has grown into a thriving brass band,
which celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2024. Since 2025, the A-band of Pro
Rege has been conducted by Jan Werkman. In addition to competitive
performances, the band takes part annually in regional events such as church
services, commemorations, and Christmas celebrations. Pro Rege also performs as
a proms ensemble at various events, including two concerts at the Concertgebouw
in Amsterdam. Through this variety of concert projects, the association actively
contributes to the cultural landscape of Heerenveen and its surroundings. The
association consists of three brass bands; the A-, B-, and C-band, and is strongly
committed to youth education and musical development. For over a century, Pro
Rege has combined musical ambition with deep local involvement.
