Bio

The Spielmannszug Hattstedt e.V. was founded on October 24, 1984, as a youth
marching band for musicians aged 5 to 27. Today, the ensemble has 85 active
members: 40 beginners who are learning instruments and music reading, and 45
musicians between 7 and 27 who regularly perform. The repertoire includes
traditional marches as well as concert pieces such as film scores, pop music, and
South American rhythms. The association’s main goal is strong youth development.
Beyond musical training, the band emphasizes community by organizing monthly
non-musical activities such as camping trips, Christmas parties, forest days, canoe
tours, Halloween events, climbing, and team games. These activities help
strengthen teamwork, social skills, and friendship among members. The band is
frequently booked for a wide variety of events, including birthdays, shooting
festivals, concerts, and parades like lantern walks and children’s festivals. Each
year, the group also competes in regional, national, and international competitions,
where it has won numerous awards. One of the greatest highlights is the annual
international youth exchange program. These trips allow members to visit different
countries, experience new cultures, and build lasting international friendships,
making music a bridge between people and communities worldwide.
