Musikcorps der Freiwilligen Feuerwehr Grossen Linden
Showwedstrijden World divisie
Bio
The ‘Musikcorps der freiwilligen Feuerwehr Grossen-Linden’ was founded in 1953
by members of the local fire brigade. Starting out as a fanfare band, the association
has continued to develop through the addition of various instruments and now plays
with trumpets, alto horns, trombones, baritones, sousaphones and percussion. The
impetus for these changes was not least the participation in the 'World Music
Contest' in Kerkrade in the 1960s and 70s. Here, new impulses for the direction of
the association were set again and again. As a result, in 1974 the Musikcorps was
able to achieve the highest score of all participants in both the marching and the
show discipline. This great success brought a veritable flood of invitations at home
and abroad. The band has performed all over Europe, the USA, Canada and Japan.
Since 2005, the Musikcorps has continued this history and was able to achieve
another gold medal in the show competition in 2017 and 2022. 2026 will be the
band’s 10thWMC participation overall. Today, the Musikcorps is one of Germany's
best-known marching and show bands and, with its uniforms inspired by the
imperial and royal era, is a welcome guest at musical events of all kinds.
