Fanfare Municipale Luxembourg Bonnevoie
Fanfareorkest 1e divisie
Bio
Founded in 1898, the Fanfare Municipale Luxembourg-Bonnevoie (FMLB) remains
the country’s only authentic fanfare orchestra performing without interruption in the
highest national division. Since 2014 the ensemble has been directed by Romain
Kerschen, continuing a tradition that combines local cultural engagement with
international performances. In recent years, the orchestra has regularly taken part in
major competitions and festivals. It achieved gold medals at the World Music
Contest in Kerkrade in both 2005 and 2022, the latter including the premiere of
Temptations by Luxembourgish composer Marco Pütz, commissioned especially for
the occasion. At the European UGDA contests in the Philharmonie Luxembourg in
2013 and 2017, the ensemble was awarded first prizes, further underlining its
standing in concert band music. Its programming also demonstrates a strong
commitment to new works for fanfare orchestra, collaborating with composers such
as André Waignein, Ivan Boumans, Camille Kerger, and Marco Pütz.The Fanfare
Municipale Luxembourg-Bonnevoie has also performed with national and
international soloists, including Matthias Höfs, Steven Mead, Roger Webster, Brett
Baker, and Pascal Schumacher. In recognition of its artistic contribution, the
orchestra was nominated for the Luxembourgish Music Prize in 2024.
