Bio
Founded in 1967 as a youth show drum band, Show & Marchingband Exempel has
grown into a renowned ensemble with a strong national and international
reputation. Based in Empel, North Brabant, the organisation now counts over 175
members across several divisions, including the flagship marching band, youth
band, stageband and music academy. The marching band consists of nearly 60
dedicated musicians with an average age of 26. Under the musical direction of
Matthijs Kruik, percussion instruction by David Nadin, and show design and
choreography by Pim van Kan, Exempel continuously raises the bar in both musical
and visual performance. Their shows combine precision, emotion, and innovation,
performed at parades, concerts, and international events. Exempel represents the
welcoming and energetic Brabant spirit: open, creative, and always striving for
progress. The band performs regularly in its home village Empel, the city of ’s
Hertogenbosch, and at festivals across Europe, impressing audiences with their
enthusiasm and professionalism. At the World Music Contest in Kerkrade, Exempel
proudly presents its unique sound, dynamic visuals, and team spirit sharing their
passion, friendship, and love for music with audiences from all over the world.
