Drumband Hasselts Fanfare is a dynamic, award-winning percussion ensemble
from Hasselt, the Netherlands. As part of the historic Hasselts Fanfare—founded in
1896—the drumband has established itself as a leading force in both the Dutch and
European marching scenes. Since its debut at the World Music Contest (WMC) in
Kerkrade in 2005, the ensemble has delivered consistently high-level
performances. A milestone came in 2019, when the drumband was named Leading
Drumband at the European Championship in Rastede, Germany, earning top marks
for precision, musicality, and innovative show design. This achievement led to an
honorary invitation to WMC 2022, where they set a record score of 89.31 points in
the World division. Under the direction of conductor Richard Kampstra, who joined
in 2024, the group continues to evolve, embracing new repertoire and pushing the
boundaries of musical excellence. Known for their sharp coordination, expressive
dynamics, and captivating performances, the drumband seamlessly blends tradition
with modern showmanship. Whether on local stages or international competitions,
Drumband Hasselts Fanfare delivers performances full of energy, discipline, and
passion—cementing their reputation as a standout ensemble in the world of
marching percussion.
