Bio
CMV Excelsior Schraard is a fanfare band with enthusiastic members from the
surrounding region of Schraard. Founded in 1922, we celebrated our 100th
anniversary in 2022. The band currently consists of approximately 45 active
members and competes in the First Division. Since September 2023, Excelsior
appointed Gijs Heusinkveld as its conductor Over the years, the bandhas grown
from a small village ensemble into a band that plays an active role in wind music
scene. Participation in the World Music Contest has become a regular item in
recent decades, often involving commissioned works from renowned composers.
These commissions reflect our commitment to contributing to the development of
fanfare music and providing it with fresh new compositions. In addition to this, the
band frequently organizes a variety of projects, including the music theatre
production "Under de Toer in 2018" and participation in the fanfare project "Ynblaze"
in 2023.
