Christelijke Fanfare Concordia Middelstum

Fanfare 1e divisie

Bio

Musical ambition and enjoyment are central to Christian Fanfare Concordia from
Middelstum, a village in the north of the Netherlands. The association was founded
in 1919 and competes in the first division. Since 2020, the band has been
conducted by Richard Visser, who is also a trumpetplayer. Although Concordia
originally started as a true village band, it now serves a regional role. Members
come not only from Middelstum and the surrounding area but also from the wider
region. Nevertheless, the characteristics of a village band are still clearly visible: a
strong sense of community and close ties with local society remain important. This
ensures a lively orchestra with a thriving group of students and young members.
Concordia aims to perform at the highest possible amateur level. This is reflected in
the band’s regular participation in festivals, contests, and championships, such as
the Open Dutch Fanfare Championships, where Concordia proudly won the bronze
medal in 2025. In addition, the band organizes appealing projects, such as the
annual Christmas concert Sterren Stralen (“Stars Shine”). The affiliated street band,
De Blaauwbloezen (“The Blue blouses”), frequently participates in Sinterklaas
parades and other festive events.
