Bio
The Royal Fanfare Sint Cecilia was founded in 1895. After almost a hundred years
of playing as a fanfare, the orchestra began to profile itself more and more as a
brass band in the early 1990s, until Brassband Hombeek became a reality in 1998.
Brassband Hombeek prioritises playing well-crafted, beautiful concerts with their
current conductor Stan Nieuwenhuis.. They have organised several major events,
sometimes in collaboration with musical legends. This just goes to show that a good
group of motivated amateur musicians can achieve a great deal. Since 1989, Brass
Band Hombeek has regularly participated in the prestigious World Music
Competition in Kerkrade. Under the direction of Michel Leveugle, Raf Van Looveren
and Stan Nieuwenhuis, the band consistently achieved podium places, culminating
in the title of “World Champion” in the third division of brass bands in 2009 under
the direction of Arthur Vanderhoeft.
