Brassband Gloria Deï Brassband Gloria Deï is an active and dedicated ensemble
based in Gerkesklooster-Stroobos, celebrating its centenary in 2023. Deeply rooted
in the local community, the band plays a vital role by organizing concerts and
musical events, often in collaboration with its youth band Projunior. With the motto
“The future belongs to the youth,” Gloria Deï is committed to fostering connections
between generations and actively seeks partnerships with other cultural and
musical initiatives in the region. The band has a strong tradition of competing at a
high level, being a regular contender at the Dutch Brass Band Championships. For
Gloria Deï, the road to the competition is as meaningful as the competition itself—
featuring intensive rehearsals, guest conductors, study weekends, and public try
outs that energize and unite the group. In 2026, the band will take part in the
prestigious World Music Contest (WMC) in Kerkrade for the fourth time, striving
once again for the top prize after several previous successes. Gloria Deï has been
led by conductor Gerk Huisma since 2022, whose experience and passion continue
to inspire the band to reach new heights.
