In fact, the WMC Kerkrade played an important role in the founding of the Brass
Band B10. One spark was ignited in 1993, when some brass players from the
greater Stuttgart area visited this event and immediately noticed its very special
atmosphere. The musicians were particularly fascinated by the brass band
performances, as this instrumentation was still extremely unknown in Germany at
the time. In the years that followed, they attended numerous European events such
as the British Nationals and the European Brass Band Championships and the idea
of founding a brass band themselves at some point solidified. Established in 2010,
Brass Band B10 is a founding member of the German Brass Band Association and
sees itself as an active part of this scene. For example, the band hosted the
national championships in 2024 and was directly involved in the organisation. At
competition level the bands greatest successes include winning the 3rd Division at
the nationals in 2014 and the 2nd Division in 2022 - both times winning also the
soloist prize in the respective division. Since 2019, there has been regular
collaboration with the renowned Belgian tuba player and conductor Frank
Vantroyen, who will also be conducting at the WMC 2026.
