Bio
The Alam Shah Wind Orchestra (ASWO), founded in 1996 at Sekolah Sultan Alam
Shah (SAS), has grown from a modest co-curricular group into one of Malaysia’s
leading school orchestras. Over the years, ASWO has nurtured generations of
talented student musicians and achieved remarkable success on both national and
international stages. In 2023, ASWO triumphed at the 14th World Open Music
Competition, winning the Gold Award and the Laureate of the 1st Prize in the Wind
Orchestra Section (Junior Artist Category), with its conductor also named a Virtuoso
Performer. The following year, ASWO earned the Gold Award with Distinction and
emerged as Overall Champion at the 22nd Wind Orchestra Festival for Fully
Residential Schools (SBP), alongside special awards for Best Percussion,
Woodwind, Brass, and Conductor. In 2025, ASWO continued its winning streak by
emerging Champion at the Malaysia International Wind Festival (miwFEST) with a
Gold Award and Best Conductor recognition. The orchestra also represented
Malaysia at the Northeastern International Wind Festival in Thailand, earning a Gold
Award & First Placing in Youth Division. Today, ASWO stands as a symbol of
passion, perseverance, and excellence, proudly bringing prestige to Sekolah Sultan
Alam Shah and inspiring young musicians across the region.
