Bio
The Agrupación Musical da Limia was founded in mid-October 2005. Its first
conductor was Mr. Eliseo Penín, followed by Mr. Celso Nieto Rodríguez, Mr. Manuel
Alejandro López Pérez, and Mr. José Luis Tielas Santiago, who currently leads the
ensemble. In July 2016, the group had the honor of taking part in the 3rd
International Wind Band Contest “Harmónico de Toro” (Zamora), in the third
category. In November 2017, it participated in the 11th Galician Wind Band Contest
(second section), earning third prize and the award for the best interpretation of a
Galician-themed piece. In November 2018, the ensemble took part in the 12th
Galician Wind Band Contest, winning first prize in the youth section. In July 2022, it
participated in the CIBM “City of Valencia”, and in December that same year, in the
15th Galician Contest of Popular Wind Bands, where it obtained third prize in the
3rd section and first prize in the children’s section. In 2023, the Agrupación Musical
da Limia achieved third place at the International Contest of Benavente, second
place in the children’s section, and first place in the second section of the Galician
Wind Band Contest.
