Fanfare St. Caecilia was established in 1845, instigated by the clergy, to provide musical contributions to religious events. Supporting the local community is still an important objective. Nowadays, fanfare St. Caecilia consists of a Youth Fanfare-orchestra, a Youth Percussion group, a Percussion group and a fanfare-orchestra. Since 1970, the orchestra has developed itself in size and quality as a result of a high-quality (self-managed) school of music, a strong organisation and inspiring conductors. From 1978 to 2002, the orchestra participated in the Dutch National Championships every four years and every time won the title. In 2006, fanfare St. Caecilia participated again in regional contest. With a score of 95.33, the orchestra left 10 competitors behind and won the regional title again. As the orchestra had achieved a 1st prize with distinction in the 1st Division every 4 years since 1987, it decided to start participating in the Concert Division. In 2009, the orchestra participated for the first time in the WMC, in the Concert Division. The score of 91.84 resulted in the title vice-world champion. This was repeated in 2013 with a score of 94.33. The orchestra participated again in 2017 and obtained a new personal record score of 95.8.
