Mercator Brass Band has its origins in Rupelmonde, where the Sint-Cecilia fanfare was founded in 1863. It was not until 1980 that the orchestra was reformed; the fanfare became the liberale brass band sint-cecilia, renamed to Mercator Brass Rupelmonde in 1995. Musical Director Johan De Win starts in 2014 and soon Mercator Brass Band incorporated in 2018 as part of De Rupelzonen.. The path that has been taken brings with it a whole new wind .A daily board will continue to lead the organization of Mercator Brass Band from Kruibeke (Rupelmonde). As a unique asset, Mercator Brass Band comes to the fore with not just one, but a whole team of conductors! Young violence gets its chance at the baton in the form of two young but ambitious conducting talents: Tim De Maeseneer and Lode Violet. The results of recent years show that an orchestra can achieve success with the bundled ideas of three conductors. Mercator Brass Band took first place at the Flemish Open Brass Band Championship in 2018, first place at the Dutch Open Brass Band Contest in 2019 and twice at the National Brass Band Championship in 2018 and 2019.
