The Martini Brassband Groningen (MBG) hails from the North of the Netherlands. Its name refers to its city of origin, Groningen. Groningen is also know as Martini-city because of its Martini church with iconic Martini tower. It is a vibrant city with a rich history. This is reflected in the character of the band. A lively band, young of heart, driven by excellence, committed to spreading the beauty of brass music. The Martini Brassband was founded in 1972. The band has established a very fruitful collaboration with Rieks van der Velde, the band's conductor for over 15 years. Next to being a regular contestant at the Dutch National Brass Band Championships we let ourselfs be heard in many indoor and outdoor concerts. The band has he longstanding tradition of concert trips, in which we try to spread the joy of brass playing abroad. This year we join the World Music Contest 2022 to celebrate music and our 50th anniversary!
