The Fanfare Sint Cecilia Hombeek was founded in 1895. In the 1990s, the orchestra decided to profile itself more as a brass band, until Brassband Hombeek became a fact in 1998. The band has its own music studio, where young people are served quality lessons. This innovative wind has ensured a thorough rejuvenation of the band. The band focusses on offering exiting concerts. It has put together large events in collaboration with a.o. Benny Wiame, Ben Haemhouts, Roger Webster, Steven Mead, James Gourlay, Jeroen Berwaerts... With a good group of motivated musicians, a lot can be achieved! Brassband Hombeek has been organizing the Flemish Open Brass Band Championship since 2005 which attracts an international audience every 2 years. Since 2014 Brassband Hombeek works under the direction of Stan Nieuwenhuis. Stan is a composer and musician. His roots are in the Netherlands, now he lives in Antwerp.
