Brass band „Aukstyn“ („Up“) has been founded in 2007 in Naujamiestis – a small town in Panevezys region. This region is famous for having a first ever brass band in Lithuania created in 1998. At this time there are 12 youth brass bands in the region. “Aukštyn” is in collaboration with conductors and musicians from Friesland (The Netherlands), England, Wales (United Kingdom). The band plays academic, sacral, rock, jazz and other various music, organizes master classes, summer band camps. Brass band “Aukstyn” has had concerts in Latvia, Estonia, The Netherlands and Poland. Also actively promotes brass band tradition and expansion in Lithuania and neighboring countries. The band has participated in the WMC Young generation project in 2017. The founders of this band are conductor Remigijus Vilys (LT), Piet Visser (NL) and Steve Legge (UK). The band has ranked 2nd place in the development section in 2018 and 2019 in the EYBBC.
