Once again the International Conductors Contest will take place in Kerkrade during WMC. From all entries, 24 candidates will be selected who will be admitted to the contest. The final winner of the golden baton - the highest prize of the contest - will be determined during the final concert, where three finalists will conduct a gala concert in the Rodahal in Kerkrade. Before the break, the three finalists will conduct The Marine Band of the Royal Netherlands Navy with original compositions for wind orchestra. After the break, chief conductor Arjan Tien will conduct a symphonic program in which the audience can enjoy one of the best professional wind bands in the Netherlands.
This competition is a collaboration with the Bond voor Orkestdirigenten en Instructeurs (BvOI).
